Mudslingers Pottery School was established by John Hansen in 1997

Sadly, John passed away in February of 2019, but we continue to honor John and his legacy through our commitment to sharing the love of ceramics with each and every student we have the pleasure of meeting.

Our school exhibits the long and wonderful history of the potter’s craft, which traces through the history of civilization itself. Mudslingers’ experienced teachers and member-staff offer hands-on assistance and inspiration for making functional, whimsical, and sculptural ceramic pieces. Frequent firings of our high-fire stoneware kilns allow students to see on-going results.

Join us for a lesson, a class, or studio sessions and experience the joy of the creative process in clay!

John Hansen found his affinity for clay while a student at the University of Wisconsin. John also worked in the theatre business but pottery was a constant thread in his life. He started Mudslingers in 1997 after many years of teaching in other programs. In addition to his many years of teaching, John had over 40 years of experience as a potter.  He brought his infamous sense of humor to class, resulting in fun and enlightening times. His work has been exhibited in Europe and sold nationally.
